The <Introduction to Korean Philosophy and Culture> lecture series, taught by Professor Park So-Jeong of the Korean Philosophy department at our university is now open on the Global MOOC platform 'Coursera'. Coursera, launched in 2012 is now the world's largest online public class platform with over 77 million registered learners.
The <Introduction to Korean Philosophy and Culture> is the first Korean philosophy course to be offered on Coursera. The basic contents of Korean philosophy are provided in English for foreign learners from all over the world who are interested in Korean culture. This course is an extended version of the <Introduction to Korean Philosophy> course, which has been available on the UK's MOOC platform 'FutureLearn' since June of last year. The new course offers more in-depth contents than the previous course.
This class reveals the characteristics of Korean Philosophy in comparison with Western and Chinese philosophy, and examines interesting philosophical elements underlying Korean thought and culture through examples from both past and present. We expect the new course will provide new insights on Korean culture, even to learners living in Korea who are not deeply familiar with Korean culture.
