About KAEP

Greeting

Welcome to the

Center of K-Academic expansion project (KAEP)

기관장

Nice to meet you who came to the K-Academic expansion project

The K-Academic expansion project was established on July 1, 2021 under Institute of Korean Philosophy and Culture in Sungkyunkwan University with the support of the Ministry of Education and Korean Studies Promotion Service in The academy of Korean Studies for the purpose of communication and spread of Korean philosophy.
Through the development and distribution of online content over the next five years, we will play the role of a bridge connecting the past, present, and future of Korean philosophy, and a bridge connecting domestic and international academia.

Korean philosophy is not a thing of the past, but a "living tradition".

We think Korean philosophy as not a past, but a "living tradition" that is constantly being reconstructed based on the identity that has evolved in "cultural boundaries."
Therefore, our center intends to overcome the limitations of the existing Korean philosophy discourse, which is buried in its own ideas, self-evident that it is an advanced form of Chinese philosophy, or explains in line with the framework of Western modern philosophy.By exploring why Korean philosophy can work as a living philosophy today and what meaningful answers can be provided to universal human questions, we will aim to create educational content for Korean philosophy that can be sent to the world philosophy community.

Development of Korean Philosophy Textbooks and Curriculums.

Currently, as more students are interested in Korean culture around the world and the number of Korean studies programs increases rapidly, demand for philosophy and ideas, which are the foundation of Korean culture, is also increasing. However, in the field of philosophy, the number of teachers who can properly teach students is very small, and domestic research results are rarely reflected in overseas Korean studies textbooks.
The lack of teachers with a wide and in-depth understanding of Korean philosophy leads to the teaching of Korean philosophy and culture as a frame of Chinese or Japanese studies abroad. Therefore, it is required to develop Korean philosophy textbooks and curriculum with a more balanced perspective than ever.

Expanding to the world through exchange and communication.

Our center will build an education and research model that can create synergy by communicating between overseas and domestic Korean philosophy research.
Therefore, the educational content that will be produced and distributed by our center over the next five years will not just be filmed and collected in colorful videos, but will be produced in a way that allows Korean philosophy to take a new leap forward while actively interacting with philosophers and philosophy around the world.
By reflecting on the existing research results, instead of listing topics in isolation, we would like to reveal philosophical issues. And also By convincingly delivering videos at the level of global citizens, we would like to continue the tradition and modernity of Korean philosophy and build bridges between overseas and Korean academia.
We ask for your interest and participation in the future. Thank you.

Director of the K-Academic expansion project PARK, SOJEONG
