• Our center seeks to build a research and education framework that ensures the continued global relevance of Korean philosophy by bridging domestic and international scholarship on Korea’s intellectual traditions.

• Korean philosophy is an evolving body of thought shaped through Korea’s reinterpretation of East Asian traditions — especially Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism — alongside the country’s indigenous humanistic and spiritual heritage.

• In particular, the institute focuses on the concept of “living traditions”— those that are continually reinterpreted in response to Korea’s historical experiences and its position at the crossroads of cultural exchange.

• In an era of growing global interest in Korean popular culture and the expansion of philosophical discourse into digital spaces, the institute aims to position Korean philosophy at the forefront of these emerging frontiers.
