One of the representative debates in Korean Confucianism, the Four-Seven Debate, has been a significant issue in Korean Neo-Confucian philosophy since the 16th century. Seongho Yi Ik (星湖 李瀷, 1681~1763), a pioneer of Korean practical learning in response to the most prominent issue in Korean Neo-Confucianism, had his own perspectives on this matter.
In pursuit of the global spread of Korean philosophy, KAEP of the Institute of Korean Philosophy and Culture, in collaboration with the College of Confucian Studies and Eastern Philosophy and 3T R&E Project Group based on Confcuian, Eastern and Korean Philosophy, BK21 4th, will be hosting the international academic conference "Seongho Yi Ik's New Compilation of the Four-Seven Debate" from January 8 to 10, 2024. The focus of this conference will be Yi Ik's work, 'New Compilation of the Four-Seven Debate (四七新編),' which examines his views on the Four-Seven Debate. Thirteen experts in Korean Neo-Confucian philosophy from Korea, the United States, Canada, China, and Taiwan will present and engage in discussions during the conference. Please refer to the attached poster for the specific schedule of the conference.
The international academic conference will take place both online and offline at the 2nd-floor Live Virtual Studio of the Business Hall at Sungkyunkwan University and on Zoom. It will commence at 10:30 AM on January 8, 2024, and conclude at 12:00 PM on January 10, 2024. The online Zoom link is as follows:
