The Molecular Dermatology Laboratory (MDL) is a laboratory that systematically studies the structure and physiology of the skin at the molecular level. The skin is the largest organ that regulates the human body through various physiological phenomena as well as a physical barrier that protects the human body from the external environment. Our laboratory explores the mechanisms of occurrence of various skin abnormalities (skin cancer, skin autoimmune diseases, aging, skin inflammation diseases, pigmentation abnormalities, etc.) caused by external stimuli, and develops materials that can improve skin abnormalities. In addition, we are investigating the correlation between the skin's circadian rhythm and its physiology and are conducting research to elucidate the skin function of olfactory receptors ectopically expressed in the skin. Ultimately, through the above-mentioned studies, we aim to find ways to improve and maintain skin homeostasis.
