Title : Seed growth of tungsten diselenide nanotubes from tungsten oxides
Abstract :
We report growth of tungsten diselenide (WSe2) nanotube by using chemical vapor deposition with two-zone furnace. WO3 nanowires were first formed by annealing tungsten thin film under argon ambient. WSe2 nanotubes were then synthesized at the tip of WO3 nanowires by supplying Se vapors. WSe2 nanotubes were formed through selenization via two steps: i) Formation of tubular structures on the outside of WO3 nanowires, consisting of core (WO3)-shell (WSe2) and ii) growth of WSe2 nanotubes at the tip of WO3 nanowires. This is in good contrast with the substitutional growth of WSe2 nanotubes. Our finding will contribute to engineer other transition metal dichacogenide structures such as MoS2, WS2, and MoSe2.
