Three papers, revised and supplemented from those originally presented at the academic conference "Exploring Methodologies in Contemporary Studies of Confucian Classics: How Should We Study Neo-Confucianism in the 21st Century?", held in February 2023 by the Center for Contemporary Studies of East Asian Classics and Critical Confucianism at the Confucian Culture Research Institute of Sungkyunkwan University, were published in the Special Issue (Volume 50, June 2023) of the journal TAE-DONG YEARLY REVIEW OF CLASSICS, published by the Institute for the Study of Taedong Classical Learning at Hallym University.

This special issue includes three featured articles, including “Cheng-Zhu’s Theory of Loyalty and Empathy (忠恕) and Its Interpretation by Contemporary Neo-Confucians” by Jung Sang-bong.
