Purpose: This presentation explores the current trends and methods in cultural psychology regarding the differences between Eastern and Western cultures in the psychological tendencies related to happiness and self-esteem. The presenter, Kim Hyunji(Sungkyunkwan University) shares plans and methods for researching particularism among Koreans and engages in discussion. The aim is to examine the cultural psychological aspects and methods, focusing on the differences observed in the psychological tendencies related to happiness and self-esteem between Eastern and Western cultures. The presentation also aims to share and discuss research plans and methods for studying Koreans' perception of particularism in the future.
Significance: Explicitly highlighting various characteristics embedded in the cultural foundation of Koreans is useful for a contemporary understanding and application of the concept of particularism. Exploring the intersection with the concept of particularism while bringing to light these characteristics in the cultural background of Koreans can be a valuable approach. Therefore, interdisciplinary research, particularly in the field of cultural psychology, is a key focus of our research institute. This presentation serves as an opportunity to share the specific direction and methodology of research based on this awareness and vision. Through discussion, it aims to enhance the synergy of interdisciplinary research, contributing to a deeper understanding of these issues.
