In order to grasp the macro context of macro-level view of Confucianism-Buddhism exchanges in the Chinese thought system, this workshop begins with the Song-Ming period, when Confucianism-Buddhism exchanges were in full swing, followed by the late Ming to early Qing dynasty of Buddhism and the late Qing to early Republican China of Neo-Confucianism.
As a result, we were able to confirm the existence of Confucianism-Buddhism exchanges in the Chinese thought system, such as the 'Convergence' of Confucianism-Buddhism in the Song-Ming period, the ‘Geyi’ of the late Ming to early Qing dynasty of Buddhism, and the Confucianism-Buddhism 'Convergence' in the late Qing to early Republican China of Neo-Confucianism.
At the same time, it was found that further examination of Confucian-Buddhist exchanges in the Sui-Tang Dynasty is necessary to achieve the research goal of identifying the macro context of Confucian-Buddhist exchanges in the Chinese thought. Ultimately, it was also found that the urgency of identifying Confucian-Buddhist dialogue is not unrelated to resolving conflicts in contemporary society. This is because the Confucian-Buddhist exchange is an example of ideological integration in the process of repeated conflict and dialogue.
