Greetings!
We are pleased to announce that the international conference jointly hosted by the Center for Contemporary Studies of East Asian Classics and Critical Confucianism (CCECC) at the Institute of Confucian Philosophy and Culture and the BK21 Education Research Corps on May 15 was a great success.
Under the main theme of "Diversity and Prospects for Critical Confucianism," prominent scholars from South Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan gathered to reinterpret various contemporary social issues through a Confucian lens and engaged in lively, in-depth discussions.
The conference fostered profound academic dialogues centered around the following core themes:
- Social Spirituality and Critical Confucianism: Seeking a new practical path toward "Dialogue within Civilizations"
- Ideals of Progressive Confucianism and Critical Concepts: Reconstructing marginalized values and the concept of "Harmony" in modern society
- Modern Transformations of Confucian Values: A critical inquiry into political culture, gender, Sushin-jega (self-cultivation and family regulation), and restorative justice
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the researchers and participants who took time out of their busy schedules to attend and illuminate the event, contributing to meaningful reflections on the future of Critical Confucianism in East Asia. We look forward to your continued interest and support for our institute's future academic endeavors.
