Title : International Workshop: Xunzi in the East Asian Context

Location : Sungkyunkwan University, 600 Years Anniversary Hall

Purpose : Our Center is dedicated to uncovering Confucian wisdom relevant to contemporary society and reinterpreting traditional virtues and community-based values as modern civic virtues. In this workshop, scholars specializing in Xunzi from various East Asian countries gathered to examine the philosophical implications of Xunzi’s thought from multiple perspectives. The workshop also provided a platform to discuss the current state and future prospects of Xunzi studies in modern academia.

Outcome : The international workshop highlighted the diverse spectrum of contemporary Xunzi studies and fostered active communication among researchers from various East Asian countries. Participants agreed that such interactions could lead to more productive research outcomes. There was also a shared consensus on the importance of expanding and sustaining academic platforms for ongoing exchange and collaboration in the future.
