To understand the political phenomenon of a highly-complicated modern society when international interdependence has arisen, it is necessary to systematically open related subjects with professionalism. In this regard, this department has made efforts to interpret recent changes in overall areas of social science from a political point of view. The course focuses on the fostering of professionals in various occupations who will practically lead social and political development. Those who already engaged in such professional occupations may utilize this department to obtain more professional knowledge on political lifestyles, and those who want to advance into this type of occupation in the future, may utilize the programs of this department as preparation.</p>

Old Sungkyunkwan, which was founded in the Joseon Dynasty in 1398, is the original campus located at the front gate of present-day Sungkyunkwan University. Students studied and lived at the original campus for hundreds of years. It had all of the facilities of a modern university including a dormitory, cafeteria, lecture hall, and library,as well as a Confucian shrine.
