Abstract
We give an introduction to crystal base theory of quantum groups. In the first lecture, we briefly review the notion of a quantum group and the crystal base of an integrable highest weight module. Then in the second lecture, we explain how the theory of crystals provides a strong combinatorial approach to representation theory of Lie algebra focusing on the case of type A.
